Best Beaches In North Goa
1. Arambol Beach
It is the new hippie heaven in Goa. Drums circles happen every evening at the far end of the beach in which locals, expats and travelers meet to play drums and everyone dances together. Furthermore, here you’ll find various classes for alternative therapies, such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, and reiki. You can enjoy water sports and dolphin sightseeing trips as well. It is one of the most happening beach in Goa. It is also called as Russian beach since it is very popular among Russians. This is one of the best beach in Goa for solo-travelers.
2. Mandrem, Ashwem & Morjim Beach
These are quiet and isolated beaches, more popular among the western tourists than the local tourists. Moreover, these are labelled as nude beaches. However, there is only a certain stretch where people shed off their clothes; which is not that easy to find. I couldn’t find it but there are stories on the internet claiming that it exists. Also keep in mind that public nudity is illegal in India. There are a few bars & no water sports options at these beaches. They’ll give you a South Goan experience in North Goa.
3. Vagator Beach
Vagator Beach is located at the bottom of a steep cliff and is divided into two sections – Big Vagator and Little Vagator. Equally popular among Indians & westerners, this beach is less crowded and lies close to the Chapora fort.
Big Vagator is the crowded main stretch of the beach, frequented by Indian tourists. Little Vagator or Ozran beach, further south past the rocks is more popular with foreigners. Little Vagator has got the hippie vibe to it. It has a famous landmark- face of Lord Shiva carved into rock.
Not much accommodation is available close to the beach except for a few luxury Resorts. One of them is W-Hotel right on the main beach that can also be viewed from the Chapora fort, it looks quite marvelous. There are a number of good bars and clubs in the area including Hill Top Goa and 9 Bar Club.
4. Anjuna Beach
Anjuna has more of a hippie influence with it. It has a very narrow shore and the waves a bit more aggressive which makes it the best beach for doing water sports. The area is not as commercialized as Calangute & Baga. Anjuna Beach flea market is quite famous but in my experience, it is over-hyped. Anjuna is an ideal area for backpackers and budget travelers, as a couple of funky hostels have came up in recent years.
5. Baga Beach
It is one of the most crowded beach in Goa. It is busy, it is happening and it offers options of water sports. Baga is famous for its nightlife and hosts some of the famous nightclubs of Goa – Cafe Mambos & Club Tito’s. This is the best beach in Goa for nightlife. Also, it is best suited for solo, group as well as family travelers.
6. Calangute Beach
It is the busiest beach in Goa just next to Baga, both Baga and Calangute are frequented mostly by Indian tourists. All adventurous water sports are on the offer here. The market around Calangute is highly commercialized & vibrant. You will find a lot of tattoo shops here & getting inked on the Goa trip has become a thing now.
Best Beaches In South Goa
7. Colva Beach
This is the first major beach you’ll encounter as you start moving south in Goa. It’s an amazing beach with a decent crowd (has a northern influence). Colva is well developed with plenty of budget hotels, beach shacks, food stalls, and restaurants and bars. Colva is almost at an hours distance from all major attractions in North, South & Old Goa and that is why it is a good place to stay.
8. Mobor Beach
Mobor is one of the prettiest beaches in South Goa. It is neat & clean and quiet. Water Sports are available here too. Some of the Goa’s most luxurious Hotels– The Leela and Holiday Inn are located on Mobor coastline. This tops the list of best beaches in Goa for honeymoon.
9. Agonda Beach
It is just north of Palolem Beach is fairly quiet and undeveloped. If you’re keen on simply relaxing and doing nothing, you’ll find Agonda beach to be the ideal match.
10. Palolem Beach
It is south Goa’s most attractive and happening beach. Enclosed by a thick forest of coconut palms, it is one of the most picturesque beaches in Goa. Additionally, it is a great beach for kayaking, dolphin watching tours and island tours are also available here. For bars and nightlife, head to the busier southern end of the beach.
